4th of July in Oxford - List of Events!

A glorious holiday spent in Oxford, where you’re not likely to see a lot of students, but most definitely the locals is the July 4th holiday!

I might be a little biased, because the Fourth is my favorite holiday. I grew up with it ingrained in my blood and about 10 years ago, I set off on a mission to save the 4th of July in Oxford.

Thankfully I took this project from being in the red, to the black in the matter of one-year, but continued to run it for three years before I decided (as any leader should) it was time to pass the torch and let it grow with the perspective of other leaders.

So, the 4thof July comprehensive events list can be found by visiting loufourthofjuly.com

But you can plan for the Str

eet Dance on the Square from 7-9pm on the eve of the Fourth. Then wake up on the 4ht of our LOU Freedom Run and 5k, benefitting Mississippi Critterz.

At 9:30am kicks off the LOU 4th of July Children’s Parade

4:00-8:15pm Music begins in the Grove with Food, children’s activities (petting zoo, train ride, bounce houses and more!)

At nightfall stroll over the Swayze Field (the Ole Miss Baseball Stadium) and watch the 20-minute fireworks show that is truly breathtaking. It’s best to grab a seat within the stadium, where they play music as the fireworks go on!

We hope to see some of you out and about during this week and you get to experience what it’s like on a truly local holiday!

PS. The LOU 4thof July Committee always welcomes your donations and I promise; it doesn’t pay for itself! If you see a bucket for donations, please consider donating!
